The Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, in coordination with the Deanship of Student Affairs, organizes an awareness meeting titled “Program It Right” for first-year students.

he meeting was held under the supervision and follow-up of Dr. Suhad Daraghmeh, Head of the Computer Science and IT Departments, who emphasized the importance of building a strong knowledge base for students from the beginning and linking the academic side with the practical side to positively reflect on their university performance and future career opportunities.

The meeting addressed multiple axes focusing on the skills of a successful university student, time management, the importance of self-learning, analytical thinking, and teamwork. It also highlighted the basics of programming and core technologies that form the academic and professional starting point for students, in addition to providing important advice regarding university registration and academic study plans.

The meeting, held at the Faculty of Science auditorium in the New Campus, was attended by Dr. Manar Qamhieh, Dean of the Faculty of IT and AI; Dr. Suhad Daraghmeh, Head of the Computer Science and IT Departments; Mr. Maher Abu Bakr, Head of the Management Information Systems Department; Dr. Imad Saadeh, a faculty lecturer; and a crowd of students and interested parties.

Dr. Manar Qamhieh opened the meeting by welcoming the students and attendees, praising the efforts of the faculty’s administrative and academic staff, and pointing out the importance of direct communication with students and involvement in interactive activities.

In her speech, Dr. Suhad Daraghmeh stressed that direct communication with new students is a fundamental element of their university success. She confirmed that the faculty pays great attention to preparing students, introducing them to their specializations and study plans, and opening permanent communication channels to answer their inquiries. She noted that the university stage is not just about studying courses, but a journey of skill-making, personality development, and engagement in a motivating educational environment.

Mr. Maher Abu Bakr reviewed the mechanisms of dealing with the study plan and the necessity of adherence to it, while Dr. Imad Saadeh provided several tips based on his experience in teaching programming courses.

The event also featured hosting faculty alumni, Ammar Ashtiyeh and Mohammad Hudhud, who shared their real-world experiences in the labor market and spoke about the challenges they faced, confirming that persistence and continuity are the keys to success in IT and AI fields. They reviewed their journeys in self-development and joining software companies, as well as launching personal entrepreneurial projects, most notably the educational platform (www.mindar.tech) launched by Ammar Ashtiyeh to support students and provide training content that meets market needs.

In an intervention, student Ali Al-Khafash highlighted the importance of student awareness of their own interest and avoiding cheating, as it harms the student and affects their career, stressing the need to rely on oneself and benefit from the university’s programs and activities.

This activity is part of a series of events implemented by the faculty to enhance academic and professional awareness among new students and connect them with inspiring real-life experiences to build a successful university path.
